Over 1,000 girls and women throughout Northeast Florida and beyond were able to connect virtually in the positive and the possible, coming together for Generation WOW Jacksonville, a one of a kind intergenerational experience that lifts the spirits of girls and women. Hosted in partnership with Duval County Public Schools, girls between the ages of 12 – 18 gathered in small assemblies inside their schools or virtually from their homes to interact and engage with each other and successful women, sharing impactful, personal stories to inspire girls to dream big and put their dreams into action. The feedback coming in post-event has been equally inspiring.

“It was great to hear from girls my age. When Deyona said to take the L’s as lessons not losses, I felt that.  It’s my new mantra!  It was exactly what I needed to hear at a moment when I didn’t even know I needed it.”  Niyati, 16

“Today was like a spoonful of medicine for the mind and the heart.”

“To hear a woman say that she started out with next to nothing, but ended up becoming a software engineer was great. The fact that she strove to achieve her dreams was really inspiring.” Oliva, 14

“WOWOWOW! What a fabulous program.”

Connect With WOW, a new virtual mentorship program that uniquely matches girls with dynamic women mentors, debuted at Generation WOW with huge success; over 50 girls raised their hands during and immediately after the program to take advantage of the mentoring opportunity. Among the attendees was Florida-Times Union reporter Beth Reese Cravey, who filed this report about Generation WOW Virtual Jacksonville.
